This painting shows the thousands of people walking home to Brooklyn, while the World Trade Towers burn in the distance. With great dignity, ordinary citizens proceeded to leave the scene of the attack in a very orderly fashion. It was a day that made me proud to be a New Yorker. People did not panic. People of all ethnic backgrounds reacted like heroes.
