Description

Utilizing original material from discarded magazines and books, Riggio’s work brings new life to once forgotten imagery through complex, handcut and pasted juxtaposition. The time-intensive analog nature of the medium opposes the ubiquitous digital age, while directly evoking the unprocessed emotional honesty that is at the core of his works. The telling of multilayered, often-unworldly stories through surrealistic visual pairings, interdimensional portals, unearthly creatures and striking, barren landscapes appear at the heart of his work. Time is suspended and subjects dance within a vast, visual universe. Accompanied by titles that explore the artist’s existential longings, each narrative becomes a sacred space; a reflection of Riggio’s interpretations on life, love, death, humor, dreams and the absurdity of the human condition.
