Initially the artist painted this panel as a final piece. The first attempt was done in 2001 and was a much simpler version of what is depicted today. It showed only limited silhouettes of the 6 figures and was painted in only brown tones. But as time passed, the artist found that the spirit of hope was emerging and the brown hues were not final. The modified panel continues to show a sense of uncertainty but there are glimpses of color that indicate that just maybe there is hope.
