Inspired by a photo from a magazine article about a devastating earthquake that took many lives. I saw women dressed in traditional black. I had been fascinated by my own feelings that immediately surfaced just by merely seeing a particular dress code, in a post 9/11 world. The image held so much more now. So much was inside of this scene. For those "others". For me. So much emotion just filling to the brims here. For the photographer, the people in that photo, the girl staring at the camera, the state of their country, the current political landscape over there. And over here. And yet...this photo had nothing to do with politics, religion, war, cultural differences. Nothing. There was an earthquake. This is a funeral.
